Heddy Anne (63)

Emotional stress affects me much more than making a strenuous physical effort does. Freeing myself from a flood of adrenaline is not easy to do. My body has problems accommodating my attempts at recovery whether it is breathing exercises, meditation, or purely lying down to rest. But after a short, hard workout, my recovery goes much better. My body has been telling me this for years and now the Body Battery has given me proof of it.

Micro-breaks are also brilliant for me. I have made having them into a habit by lying on the floor with my legs elevated, without the telephone on, in between different changes of circumstance such as, for example, between preparing for customers at my home office and leaving to go meet them.

It has never occurred to me that I would need anything like this – I’m not timid or weak! But this trick is among the most useful life changes for me.
